Teamwork
1. A team is a group of people who work together to produce an outcome. Teamwork is when this team works well and everyone participates to help each other solve a problem.
2. A successful team is a team that is respectful of other opinions, but that works together to create one strong opinion. They also use teamwork to organise the process of building and presenting the outcome.
3. I think this team can be on the analyse part of the level ladder, but the individuals can also focus on their own expectations.
I think I am a shaper, because, although I don't like upsetting people to get the task done, I do tend to want to get things done, and I like to take everyone's opinion and put it in to one strong opinion. I feel like in some areas, if I don't take charge, then nothing will get done. I don't really like this bit in my personality, because when I work in a team with another shaper, there are conflicts and people tend to dislike me at that time.
I've done the scores, and I am four characters in the team roles. The three highest scores are Resource Investigator (which got 12 points) and Shaper (which also got 12 points), but interestingly my highest was an Implementer, which got 16 points. It was interesting that I got an implementer, but there are some characteristics that match with my personality, the quote "They are not afraid of hard work and prefer to tackle tasks in a systematic way" proves that.

ELP Fashion Show
Deciding on my concept
The category I've chosen in the Human Rights topic is Child Labour, as highlighted on my mind map. I have chosen child labour because I know I have been very lucky in my life, I've had choices, options, and I've had a very healthy and fulfilling life as a child. I can't imagine what it would be like if these things were taken away from me. I think we need to help these children who don't have these things, and that work 8 hours a day, and who are only as young as six years old. If we do this, it will create a better future, with no poverty, no hunger, no war. Everything is linked ("no poverty - education - job - money - food = HEALTHY LIFESTYLE" or "no poverty - no war over money - peace = HEALTHY WORLD).

Outfit Design
1 - The top is going to be made out of binliners, because one of the jobs for Children in poor countries is to pick up rubbish from the rubbish tip.
2 - It's a polo neck to show the kind of strangulation and being removed from a healthy life. Also the children are tortured a lot, some of the methods might be strangulation.
3 - It's tight to show how skinny and how deprived of food the children are.

Research sheet
Success Criteria
17th October
1. I will try to link the rights to my issue.
2. I will focus on a few questions, but get a lot of detail to support my answers.
SC REFLECTION
I think I need to put more detail into my few questions (follow on tomorrow!).
18th October
- I can research information with detail
- I can pinpoint an individual and analyse their story
SC REFLECTION
I can pinpoint the individual story, but now I need to work on seeing it from other people's perspectives and link on the IDEAL level ladder.
31st October
- I can write a "pre-verse" before my story that describes my issue and the rights removed.
- I will continue to write my story, but write it from a readers point of view, because they might not know or understand some of the knowledge I already know.
SC REFLECTION
I have written my "pre-verse" and now I need to analyse my story and try and see it from a readers point of view.
1st November
- I can feel empathy for other people and include it in my story.
- I can analyse people's feelings and different opinions.
SC REFLECTION
I have written things from the my main characters point of view, and have captured the emotions that they might feel.
I am writing from the point of view people who destroyed the main characters life.
3rd October
- I can work efficiently but quickly.
- I can analyse people's feelings and different opinions.
SC REFLECTION
I've worked quickly and I think I can finish my outcome by tomorrow.
4th October
- I can finish my outcome!
- I can end my outcome with a cliffhanger that makes people want to read more.
SC REFLECTION
I've finished my outcome with a cliffhanger! WOOOO!

My Issue
My issue is asylum seekers. I am reading a book at the moment called The Other Hand, which follows the life of a Nigerian refugee trapped in a detention centre in the UK. I’m really interested in this and how it’s handled in different areas. That’s why I chose asylum seekers.

Questions that you need to answer while researching your issue:
a) What is your issue?
Asylum Seekers (difference between asylum seekers and refugees: asylum seeker are people who are waiting to here a decision from the government that is whether they can stay in the country, refugees are people who have heard a positive decision and they are allowed to stay in the country they asylum from (actual definition: people who have fled from their home country for reasons of war, abandonment etc).

b) How has the issue developed historically?
c) Why is this issue considered a human rights issue?
This is a human rights issue because when you’re a refugee, it takes away the right to shelter. The organizations have to give you clean food and water, although the conditions aren’t very nice.

Does everyone have access to their rights?
LI's (what should I have learned by the end of this task?)
- To know the 5W's of Amnesty International
- To evaluate whether everyone has acces to their human rights
- To reflect on others situation.
SC's (what do I have to do to meet these learning intentions?)
- To be able to find specific cases where rights are not applied (to empathise)
- To be able to move on to the Analyse bit on the Level Ladder.
I don't think everyone has access to their human rights, such as places in LEDC's (Less Economically Developed Countries). Children have to go to work, food and water aren't equal to everyone etc. But some countries in MEDC's are taking away freedom of thought/religion or in some countries such as Saudi Arabia women aren't even allowed to drive.
5W's Amnesty International
Who?
Amnesty International was founded by a lawyer called Peter Beneson.
What?
A non-profit / non-governmental organisation the protects human rights around the world.
Where?
It's worldwide in over 150 countries, but is based in London.
When?
Amnesty International was founded in July 1961.
Why?
Peter Beneson started this organisation thanks to two men from Portugal who "toasted (drunk) to liberty (freedom)!" He did not think this was write and also stated "Open your newspaper any day of the week and you will find a story from somewhere of someone being imprisoned, tortured or executed because his opinions or religion are unacceptable to his government."
OFFICIAL MISSION
"To conduct research and generate action to prevent and end grave abuses of human rights, and to demand justice for those whose rights have been violated."
Amnesty International Advert
How does it make you feel?
At first it scared me a little because of the breathing and he running. But then the music started to pick up and I felt more like standing up for myself and other people.
What does it suggest about people and their human rights?
It suggests that not everyone has rights applied to them. It suggests that people need to start standing up for these people.
Dividing up the scenes:
Sounds
Heart beat - breathing - dog barking - sewing - gunshots - whistle - paper ripping - bottle clanking - singing
People
1. Asylum seeker
2. Victim of child labour (girl sewing)
3. Child soldiers
4. A victim of being stripped of the right of expression
5. A victim of being stripped of the right to clean food and water
6. Monks (victim of being stripped of then right to chose own religion.

HUMAN RIGHTS
SAUDI WOMEN ALLOWED TO VOTE
Just recently, in 2011, Saudi Arabian women have been given the right to vote. Women in Saudi Arabia cannot drive and only are allowed in cars with a male occupant. They’re also not allowed to leave the country unless accompanied by a male. But just recently, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz allowed women to vote AND to run in the 2015 elections. This is standing up for feminism and women’s rights. This hopefully will influence women’s rights more in the future.
EGYPTIAN EQUALITY RIGHT
Essentially, Egyptian law was based on right and wrong, following the rules based on the Ma'at. Ma'at represented truth, order, balance and justice in the universe. This concept allowed everyone (BUT NOT SLAVES interestingly enough) should be viewed as equals, regardless of wealth or social position. However, when punishment was carried out on one person, the entire family of the guilty suffered as well. For example, when individuals were sentenced to exile (not allowed in their own country), their children were automatically also banned. This isn’t equal, so the Egyptian rights weren’t technically useful rights.
RANK
1. EGYPTIAN EQUALITY RIGHT
2. SAUDI WOMEN ALLOWED TO VOTE
I think the Egyptian eqaulity right is more important that women being allowed to vote in Saudi Arabia. Although this right is important and standing up for feminism, the right to all be equal (woman, men, slaves, pharaohs, richer, poorer) it is way more important to forming human rights, and as the Egyptian rights were the first form of rights, it DEFINITELY shaped human rights the most.
TEAM ROLES
I think I am a whip cracker. I tend to take over and try and get things done. The class gave ideas and most of cooperated and tried to meet in the middle to create a great poster. I didn't want to be the leader, but when people needed help or needed to ask the question, they asked me. I tried to tell everyone that I didn't WANT to be the "leader", but that didn't work. This made me really stressed because I didn't want to control everything. This did make me a bit unpopular, and we all had some arguments. I think it says in the description that shapers don't mind making people upset as long as the task is done. This is completely opposite to me. I hate seeing people upset because of what I've done, or because of what situations have occurred. This is why I really don't like being the "leader", but sometimes without me being conscious of it, I take over. I REALLY DON'T LIKE THIS BIT OF MY PERSONALITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
